Hemodialysis Treatment

Hemodialysis is a procedure that cleans and filters the blood.  Hemodialysis helps control  blood pressure and balance important minerals, such as potassium,  sodium and calcium.  Hemodialysis cleans the blood in a treatment that is performed outside of your body. In this treatment, your blood is circulated through a filter, called a dialyzer, connected to a dialysis machine. Each treatment usually takes 4-5 hours and it must be performed at least three times a week.

With hemodialysis, you’ll need to do the following:

  • Follow a strict treatment schedule at  Luxury Dialysis
  • Take medications we give you religiously
  • Make positive changes in your diet

During your hemodialysis treatment, you will receive quality care from the Luxury Dialysis  comprehensive renal care staff. The nursing staff will take your vital signs constantly for your safety. While you are on hemodialysis, you will be very a very comfortable space.

Peritoneal Dialysis

Peritoneal dialysis  is a form of dialysis whereby waste products are removed from your blood. It uses the peritoneum in your abdomen as the membrane through which fluid and dissolved substances are exchanged with the blood. It is used to remove excess fluid, correct electrolyte problems, and remove toxins in those with kidney failure. This is done with the help of a tube (catheter), which contains a cleansing fluid that flows into a part of your abdomen and filters waste products from your blood.

Peritoneal dialysis is very different from hemodialysis, which is more commonly used during dialysis treatments. Peritoneal dialysis allows you to give yourself treatments at home, at work, and even while on an exotic island vacationing. However, peritoneal dialysis isn’t an option for everyone with kidney failure or disease. Why? To do this on your own, you need to be very comfortable with your hands and be willing to care for yourself at home.
